Historical Background:
The Khan of Kalat, Mir Naseer Khan Noori included Gwadar in his realm in
1777. In 1783, Mir Naseer Khan presented Gwadar to Taimur Sultan,
the defeated ruler of Muscat, who recaptured Muscat, but continued
to rule Gwadar.
After Independence, the Gwadar question was raised again by Haji
Muhammad Iqbal Baloch, son of Kauda Durra Khan Baloch and Khan
Liaqat Ali Khan the first Prime Minister of Pakistan, asked for
annexation of Gwadar to Pakistan in 1949.
Haji Muhammad Iqbal Baloch urged the government of Pakistan that
due to geo-strategically importance of Gwadar is should be
repurchased.
In 1951 he wrote a letter to government of Pakistan stressing the
same. Due to his effort Gwadar was repurchase from Muscat in 1957.
In 1968 Gwadar was air linked to Muscat through his company National
Express.
He was awarded Tamgha - E - Khidmat by the Government of Pakistan
for his services and historical role.
The vision of Hajji Muhammad Iqbal Baloch in kept alive by his sons
through Visionary Group.
